This class session runs 12:00 – 2:45 PM on Saturday afternoons, Sat 6/1 – Sat 7/13. Classes will be held at the Voodoo Comedy theater space, 1260 22nd St, Denver, CO 80205.

You will have a Student Showcase performance the week following your final class! This will take place on Sun 7/21 at Voodoo Comedy, 1260 22nd Street, Denver, CO 80205.

In Level 301, students will get an introduction to playing character in improv. You’ll learn the basics of how to get into character and sustain one and explore point of view. Students will learn how to use characters in scenes and with their scene partners. This level will prepare you for Improv Level 501: Advanced Character.  Class sessions run seven weeks, with a Student Showcase performance following the end of the session.

Instructor: Lizz Mathews has been performing, coaching, and teaching improv across the country for over ten years. She helped start the Kalamazoo Improv Festival in Michigan in 2008, while creating and teaching after-school improv programs with Communities in Schools from 2007-2011. She has performed at various festivals, theaters, and corporate events around the Midwest and East Coast. In 2013 Lizz joined the casts of ImprovAcadia (Bar Harbor, Maine) and Capital City Improv (Central/Southern Maine). She also taught improv at the Penobscot Theatre (Bangor, Maine) for three years. She loves finding the funny in every situation and embraces the idea that mistakes are the funniest and best parts of life – on and off stage!
